The NBC Peacock subscription service will debut the John Wick prequel series in 2023. Starz had previously planned to debut the three-part series The Continental, which takes place in the Continental Hotel. Since then, the rights to the John Wick trilogy and the series have been acquired by Peacock.
The Continental tells the history of the hotel, which appears in all three John Wick films as a covert haven for assassins. The Continental Hotel is a neutral location, making it an ideal setting for negotiations and discussions between dangerous underworld figures.
As Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell (The Purge), travels to New York City to begin his new job as the Continental’s manager, the narrative is told from his point of view. This is a significantly younger version of the character Ian McShane portrayed in the movies because the television show takes place in 1975. The cast also includes Ayomide Adegun (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction) as younger versions of Charon and Charlie. Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Mishel Prada (Fear the Walking Dead), and Nhung Kate make up the new roster of characters. Even though the actor has a notorious record that includes both claims of domestic violence and a history of employing anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic, and sexist rhetoric, Mel Gibson has also been cast in the show.
John Wick: Chapter Four, the following installment in the series, is slated for a March 2023 theatrical debut.
