A rollback netcode update for Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 has been revealed.

This has been a long-standing request from fans of fighting games, and the time has finally come.

Arc System Works stated at CEOtaku 2022 that rollback netcode will be coming to Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator instead of a new Guilty Gear Strive character.

Yes, you are awake. There will soon be a replacement for Xrd’s nearly ten-year-old delay-based netplay, so maybe you won’t have to worry about lag or losing combos as a result of it.

Players will soon be able to test out the entire rollback update for Xrd, while there is presently no hard release date established.

Similar to how they beta tested earlier games, the creators will begin a rollback public test for PC sometime in late October. However, it isn’t yet known whether the significant fix will also be applied to REV2 and Revelator’s PlayStation 4 versions.

With enhancements either completed or in progress for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Dragon Ball FighterZ, ArcSys is undoubtedly succeeding in improving their earlier fighting games with improved online play.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is essentially the only one left, which is disappointing, but maybe this means the company’s tech geniuses will finish the whole roster in time and solidify their status as fighting game legends.
