According to a report, the United States would sanction Russian companies that provide technology to Moscow’s military.

The Biden administration is contemplating penalties against Russian enterprises that it believes supply products and services to Moscow’s military and intelligence agencies, according to a storey published on Friday by the Wall Street Journal.

According to the article, which cited U.S. officials, the Treasury Department penalties may be revealed as early as next week, if not sooner.

The Treasury Department did not respond to a request for comment on the storey.

According to the article, the majority of the firms that are anticipated to be subject to the alleged penalties – including Serniya Engineering and equipment manufacturer Sertal – had already been included in a United States list prohibiting the transfer of sensitive technology to them.

According to the article, although the businesses are barred from doing business in the future, they are not barred from doing business at all.

The United States and its allies increased their pressure on Russia on Thursday as a result of the country’s invasion of Ukraine. New sanctions were imposed by the United States on dozens of Russian military businesses, hundreds of members of the country’s parliament, and the top executive of the country’s main financial institution.
