While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back at work in the US, they are apparently attempting to put a few projects on hold. First, there’s his possibly delayed memoir, which he hopes to release next year in light of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, and now, the couple is apparently getting cold feet when it comes to their Netflix docuseries.
According to a Netflix insider who talked to Page Six, Harry and Meghan are apparently “having second thoughts on their own story.” Even though they’ve been filming for over a year, the couple might be worried about fanning the flames of the family feud, which was set aside (as best possible) during the Queen’s funeral. “Harry and Meghan are anxiously attempting to use the mildest language possible. However, it is their account, as told by them, a second person said.
But the Netflix insider pointed out that their reluctance started before to Harry’s grandmother’s passing on September 8. The Sussexes have “made considerable requests to walk back content,” and if they have their way, “it will basically delay the project indefinitely,” according to the worry. However, as of now, “Netflix is standing by the filmmakers” since they probably want the docuseries to be released as soon as possible because they are aware of the kind of headlines it will produce.
However, according to reports, Netflix has other plans in mind, including a potential airing after The Crown premieres on November 9. Harry and Meghan are lobbying for a 2023 release. The streaming network ultimately decides when the show will air, but they also need to find a way to appease the famous couple and respect the filmmakers’ efforts.
