Asanda Foji is proving that it’s never too late to chase your passions. The actress, widely known for her role in Generationshas taken a bold step into the DJing world, adopting the stage name DJ Prayze.
With a love for music that spans Afro tech, Amapiano, and house, she is determined to make a mark despite the skepticism surrounding female DJs.
The rise of women in the DJing scene has often been met with criticism, with some dismissing them as gimmicks.
However, Asanda refuses to be discouraged. “People will always have something to say, it’s important to do what you love at all times,” she said. “Do what brings you joy.”
Born in the 1980s, she firmly believes that age should never be a barrier to pursuing one’s dreams. For her, music and performance are deeply intertwined. “I am an actress, and music and performance are part of the arts,” she added.
Her journey in the entertainment industry has not been without its challenges. After leaving Generations in 2015, she discovered through newspaper reports that she was about to be axed from the show.
Following that chapter, she relocated to the Netherlands, where she lived for several years before marrying in 2022.
Determined to keep her acting career alive, Asanda sought roles while sharing online self-tapes. “Acting is a challenging industry and finding roles is not easy, but I’ve never given up,” she said.
