Connie Britton is thinking back on the memorable encounter with former president Barack Obama.
The 55-year-old White Lotus actress spoke to E! on the red carpet of the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night.
Loni Love claims that before meeting Obama, 61, she “had no notion” that she was a fan.
She remembered thinking, “When I was seeing him for the first time, it’s just going to be, hi, bye — he’s going to be like, ‘Yeah, on to the next.'” And he said, “In Friday Night Lights, I really like you.”
And I just about hit the floor, forget it, she added. “So yeah, that was a major moment.”
On The Late Late Show, Britton previously spoke about the momentous experience from last month, describing how she was “very excited” before seeing the former president.
Britton claimed that despite her excitement, she was determined to remain silent.
For those of you who don’t know, FNL stands for Friday Night Lights. He said, “I really like you in FNL,” she said. I panicked, thinking, “Barack Obama understands what Friday Night Lights is?”
In an interview with PEOPLE prior to the Emmy Awards, Britton discussed playing the conceited mother and CEO Nicole Mossbacher in The White Lotus, for which she and co-stars Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell, Alexandra Daddario, and Sydney Sweeney are nominated for supporting actress in a limited series or movie.
The actress remarked, “It was a terrific opportunity to be able to look long and hard at what it is to be a white lady with a feeling of privilege and an entitlement sense and the blinders that she puts in place to safeguard those ideals for herself.
In her interview with PEOPLE, Britton said she was still in disbelief about how well-regarded the show was.
She remarked, “I’ve never worked on a project that received 20 Emmy nominations, and it seems so appropriate and I’m so delighted about it. I believe it truly honours the unique experience we all shared and our close working relationship.
At 8 o’clock, NBC will begin airing a live coverage of the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. ET from the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater.
