After One Season, Peacock Cancels “Queer As Folk”

The Queer As Folk revival will end quickly. Russell T. Davies and Stephen Dunn’s television series has not been renewed by Peacock for a second season.

The new version, which debuted on June 9, follows the lives of a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are changed as a result of a catastrophe. It is a remake of the British series that Davies produced.

Devin Way, Fin Argus, Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sibilly, and Ryan O’Connell were the series’ main actors. Numerous guest stars, such as Kim Cattrall, Juliette Lewis, Ed Begley Jr., and Nyle DiMarco, appeared on the programme.

On Instagram on Friday night, Dunn posted the “disappointing news” of Queer as Folk’s cancellation.

Making a programme as brazen and unabashed as Queer As Folk is a rare gift in these times and in this nation. He added next to a picture of the cast, “This experience altered our lives for the better, and we’re so grateful to have found this beautiful new family. “While we’re devastated that there won’t be any more episodes, we want to thank everyone for watching and falling in love with Brodie, Mingus, Ruthie, Noah, Shar, Julian, Daddius, Bussey, Marvin, Judy, and Brenda. We know how much it meant to the fans. We are really appreciative of the chance to celebrate our neighbourhood and are immensely pleased of our production.

Executive producers were Lee Eisenberg, Emily Brecht, Nicola Shindler, Davies, and the creator of the original British series for Channel 4, Louise Pedersen. All3 Media International distributes the format and the original British series, which was created by Red Productions. The pilot and other episodes were directed by the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer Stephen Dunn, while Jaclyn Moore handled writing and executive producing duties. The show’s producer is UCP, a part of Universal Studio Group.

This is the second time an American outlet has remade a British television series. Showtime broadcast a US adaption from 2000 to 2005. Initially in production at Bravo, the current iteration moved to corporate sibling Peacock and received a series order.
