In June 2019, Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes connected through Bachelor in Paradise.
Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes are getting ready to exchange vows.
The long-term couple’s engagement has been officially announced, a source tells PEOPLE. After dating for more than three years, they reach a major milestone in their relationship.
Unglert, 31, spoke about the proposal while co-hosting Jared Haibon’s podcast Help! I Suck at Dating. In the most recent episode of the podcast, Unglert disclosed that he acquired a “new” replacement engagement ring for Miller-Keyes after unintentionally misplacing the original, a 4.5-carat emerald-cut diamond.
He said, “The lesson of the story is don’t store your engagement rings in the rubbish drawer. It might be in the garage somewhere. I had to go out and purchase a temporary ring, but it’s not as lovely as the first one was.
Unglert then affirmed that despite the hitch, he still had every intention of popping the question.
It will happen before the podcast airs, according to Unglert. “Maybe. The day after it airs, perhaps.”
Then Haibon, 33, said they shouldn’t cancel the programme “until we know” for sure. Unglert responded by stating that “it won’t” air prior to the idea actually happening.
The information was revealed after Miller-Keyes, 27, hinted at a possible engagement on her Instagram Story in August.
She scribbled over a picture of a steering wheel, saying, “I spent the afternoon at Toyota picking out something special for Dean.”
Fans may have deduced from the former Bachelor contestant’s social media tease that the couple was prepared to advance in their relationship. Unglert, 31, aired the following on his Help I Suck at Dating podcast in June: “I negotiated with her. I said, “If you buy me a truck, I’ll buy you a ring.””
By writing, “If you listen to Help I Suck at Dating you know what this is,” at the bottom of the image, Miller-Keyes further seemed to support the association.
Unglert spoke on the arrangement between the two on the podcast in June. It’s such a sensitive topic, he remarked. “I have to spend all this money on something I don’t even want, even if Caelynn makes a lot more money than I do. For instance, she is the one who wants to be married, even though I want her to obtain what she wants.”
Unglert stated in November that his then-girlfriend anticipated getting engaged before the end of 2022.
The reality star remembered an acquaintance who, upon viewing the couple’s engagement rings, inquired as to whether they had yet exchanged vows. As far as the government is concerned, I responded, “No, but as far as our hearts are concerned, yes,” he recalled.
Caelynn then leans over and says, “We’ll be engaged by 2022, trust me,” or “in 2022,” or something like, he continued. I’m unsure if she is speaking on my behalf or if she is planning to pop the question to me.
Unglert stated that he had made it “very apparent” to Miller-Keyes that she might propose.
I think she’s got something in the works for that, which I think is pretty fantastic, because I told her, “If you really want to get married, you should be the one proposing to me,” he remarked at the time.
In September 2021, Unglert and Miller-Keyes first considered Lake Como, Italy, as the location for their wedding.
“It is unquestionably a location where a wedding would be amazing. It’s really one of the most picturesque spots we’ve ever been “According to Unglert’s podcast.
He went on, “It’s impossible not to exclaim, “Oh, my gosh. This is incredible. I want to live my life like way. And now that I’m here, like, I want you to be in my life forever,” which, of course, is what I’ve always thought.”
In June 2019, Unglert and Miller-Keyes connected while watching the sixth season of Bachelor in Paradise. They departed Paradise together even though Unglert first put a stop to their summer romance.
In September 2019, the pair made their Instagram account official with a picture of them living in a van after leaving Paradise. Lots of ramen, not many showers, and a lot of happiness, said Miller-Keyes in the description of her Instagram image. “Sorry we had to leave #bachelorinparadise early, the vantasy suite waits for no one,” Unglert stated in a tweet.
Throughout their relationship, the couple was the subject of wedding rumours.
On Miller-Keyes’ post for Unglert on Valentine’s Day 2020, a fan wrote, “Get married!” Miller-Keyes had an interesting reply: “We already did.” Ashley Iaconetti, a friend and former participant in BiP, added to the rumours when she said, “[Dean] continues repeating that they were married while they were in Europe and he broke his leg and I’m thinking that potentially truly did happen.”
“Every time we ask [Dean and Caelynn], he says it with a grin — he’s like, “We’re married,”” Jared Haibon said to PEOPLE in the same month. However, because they never formally verified the wedding rumours, it appears that the couple was only stirring the pot.
