After Trevor Noah’s abrupt departure, The Daily Show correspondents are being considered as prospective successors.

Following Trevor Noah’s unexpected retirement announcement from The Daily Show, Roy Wood Jr. is allegedly the front-runner to take over as host.

Fans of political humour, you can relax. The Daily Show was founded by Craig Kilborn and, most significantly, John Stewart before Trevor Noah, and it will continue to be without him. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show won’t only continue, it will stay on Comedy Central rather than moving to Paramount+.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the network told the outlet, “In time, we will turn to the next chapter of The Daily Show and all of our incredible correspondents will be at the top of that list. Until then, our attention is on honouring Trevor and expressing our gratitude for all that he has done.

According to THR sources, one of those contributions was supposedly upsetting Comedy Central to no end by announcing his resignation last Thursday. According to reports, Noah has increased his commitment to the show by at least two and possibly three years. (Reportedly, the day before, he had lunch with Paramount executive Chris McCarthy and didn’t discuss his upcoming announcement.) As a result, the network is already rushing to secure his departure before choosing a new host.

Now, take the following information with a grain of salt, but according to TMZ, Roy Wood Jr. is currently the clear frontrunner to succeed Noah, according to Comedy Central sources. In addition to being one of the most well-known journalists, the source states that network executives are desperate to retain him on board because his contract is up for renewal. Although he hasn’t been personally informed that he’s even a candidate to succeed Trevor, it appears that the higher-ups have signalled that they “want to meet with him to discuss his future.”

According to TMZ, “there’s chatter the next host could easily be a woman,” so it’s still anyone’s game. (How outrageous!) Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, and Dulcé Sloan are additional Daily Show reporters. Any of them could take over as the show’s host in the future. Place your bets right away!
