After being charged with two felonies for workers’ compensation fraud earlier this year, “Yellowstone” actress Q’orianka Kilcher has hired Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez to assist her in her legal struggle with the state of California.
Vasquez gained notoriety as one of the key players in Depp’s win in the multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit he brought in Virginia against his ex-wife Amber Heard. A jury found Heard to have defamed the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor after a six-week trial, and the actor was given $10.35 million in damages. As a result of the jury’s finding that Depp defamed Heard through one of his attorneys, Heard was awarded $2 million in a countersuit.
Following her significant victory in the Depp trial, Camille, a litigation attorney who joined Brown Rudnick LLP in 2018, was given the opportunity to become a partner. She will collaborate with Steve Cook, another partner at the company who specialises in white collar defence investigations.

Kilcher’s case was brought by the California Department of Insurance in July, and Vasquez and Brown told Fox News Digital they are “determined to defend” her. The department alleges Kilcher received disability benefits while working on the well-known drama despite claiming she was too injured to work.

In a statement, they said, “We remain steadfast in our resolve to defend Ms. Kilcher in this significant case which analyses the fundamental shortcomings in the disability compensation system. “We seek to clear the name of Ms. Kilcher, a well-known and innovative actress in Hollywood.”
According to sources, Kilcher is “10% crippled for the rest of her life” as a result of a car accident she was engaged in while working on set nearly four years ago.
In an inquiry published over the summer, Kilcher was accused of receiving “almost $90,000 in disability benefits” and fabricating injuries to medical professionals. According to the claim, Kilcher “supposedly hurt her neck and right shoulder” in October 2018 while appearing in the film “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.”
She continued to get medical attention for her wounds, but she “did not respond to the insurance company processing her claim on behalf of her employer.”
She contacted the insurance provider a year later to request treatment after being given a job but being unable to take it “because her neck discomfort was too severe.”

Kilcher allegedly started getting “temporary complete disability benefits” shortly after, according to the CA state release. She claimed to a doctor that she wouldn’t be able to work for a year, but an investigation revealed that she worked on “Yellowstone” from July to October of that year.
According to reports, she got “undeserved disability benefits” totaling $96,838 from October 14, 2019 to September 9, 2021.
The popular Kevin Costner drama, which was produced by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson and also features Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes, is said to be welcoming Kilcher back for season five. Deadline reports that she will resume as Angela Blue Thunder.
