Ben Kingsley to Play an MCU Character in ‘Wonder Man’ on Disney+

In the project, he will reprise his role as actor Trevor Slattery.

Ben Kingsley is making a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Oscar winner will reprise his role as actor Trevor Slattery in Marvel’s Wonder Man project for Disney+, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel has not commented on the development.

The potential series, which THR first reported was in the works in June, centres on one of Marvel’s most enduring characters, Simon Williams/Wonder Man. He debuted in Marvel Comics in 1964 as a villain, but was reimagined as a hero in the 1970s. In the 1980s, Wonder Man was a founding member of the West Coast Avengers, while Williams worked as an actor and stuntman during the day.

Wonder Man will be Kingsley’s fourth appearance in the MCU, following appearances in Iron Man 3, a follow-up short film, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings last year. Destin Daniel Cretton, the latter’s director, is a co-creator and executive producer of Wonder Man, as is head writer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Slattery, played by Kingsley, was cast as the villain The Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He then made an appearance in the 2014 Marvel short All Hail the King, where he was broken out of prison by a member of the Ten Rings organisation, before reappearing in Shang-Chi.

CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Goodman Genow represent Kinsgley.

The news of Kingsley’s casting was first reported by Variety.
