GUITARIST Johnny Agostini will headline an intimate concert at Kafe Blue on November 15th, 2024 that will feature a blend of bossa nova, pop flamenco, gypsy jazz, fusion, world, and calypso.
Known for his genre-defying style, Agostini’s versatility on the nylon, steel, electric guitar, and bass has made him a standout in Trinidad’s music scene.
His love for music began at home, influenced by a variety of sounds from local music to pop classics. His journey in music started in 2009 playing rock with childhood friends, then he explored pop, soca, and other Caribbean styles with the band Caribbean Traffik Jam.
Over the years, Agostini has performed with prominent bands The Supernormal Band and Bangaseed. His passion shifted to jazz during the pandemic which led to jam sessions at Kafe Blue with bands such as The Dominant 7th Calypso Jazz and The Caribbean Renaissance Jazz Ensemble. Agostini’s collaboration with Mungal Patasar’s Pantar expanded his repertoire into Indian classical and world music, with a standout performance at the North Coast Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2023.
Classically trained soprano LeAndra, who has performed in Porgy and Bess in Budapest, Hungary, and at major jazz festivals such as Tobago Jazz Festival and the Caribbean Jazz Festival in Florida will join Agostini on stage at Kafe Blue.
Opening the show is Jon Crosby, an emerging guitar talent, accompanied by Kyle Trystan on cajon and Gregory Pantin on bass.
