Bowers & Wilkins has introduced a new version of the Px8, its flagship pair of over-air headphones. Now offered in a McLaren Edition trim, the special edition over-ear headphones also have a 24-bit DSP, Bluetooth aptX Adaptive support and 40 mm carbon fibre drivers.
Bowers & Wilkins has started selling a new pair of the Px8, not long after it released a 007 Edition of the same headphones. To recap, Bowers & Wilkins introduced the regular Px8 in September with 43.6 mm carbon fibre drivers and a DSP capable of reproducing 24-bit audio over AUX, Bluetooth or USB Type-C. For reference, all B&W Px8 models support AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive Bluetooth codecs.
Additionally, Bowers & Wilkins rates the Px8 for up to 30 hours of battery life, although we imagine this estimate decreases with ANC enabled. While the regular Px8 and McLaren Edition are functionally identical, the latter comes with a custom ‘Galvanic Grey & Papaya Orange’ colour scheme. Supposedly, the pair have teamed up to celebrate their collaborations over the McLaren Artura, McLaren GT and the McLaren Speedtail.
The Px8 McLaren Edition is available to order now in the Eurozone, UK and the US for €799, £699 and US$799, respectively. In short, the McLaren Edition costs €100 more than the regular Px8, even though Bowers & Wilkins has just given the device a fresh coat of paint. Please see Bowers & Wilkins’ website for more information about the Px8 McLaren Edition and the features it offers.
