Brad Pitt introduces skincare line Le Domaine, modelled after Gwyneth’s former Goop company

Goop 2.0?

On Wednesday, Brad Pitt unveiled the gender-neutral Le Domaine skincare line. He credited his ex-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow with helping to spark the concept.

The actor, 58, told British Vogue, “I appreciate what Gwyneth’s done [with Goop]. She has created this empire and is still a pretty close friend. She’s always been good at being a curator, and it’s been a great opportunity for her to express her creativity.

Pitt noted that Paltrow, with whom he dated from 1994 to 1997, was “probably the first one who persuaded [him] to even wash [his] face] twice a day.” This is not the first time Pitt has followed Paltrow’s lead in skincare.

The Serum ($385), The Cream ($320), and The Cleaning Emulsion ($80) were the first three products offered by Le Domaine when it first debuted. Since then, the Oscar winner’s beauty regimen has undoubtedly developed.

Le Domaine’s formulas are based on the grapes grown at Chateau Miraval, the French vineyard that Pitt and Angelina Jolie jointly purchased in 2008. It’s interesting to note that Pitt’s current enterprise was actually influenced by two of his past lovers. (The former lovers are currently embroiled in a complicated court case regarding the winery.)

Together with the Perrin family, the Château Beaucastel winemakers, Pitt created the brand that is backed by science. The two also collaborated on Pitt’s Château Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé.

Thus, Le Domaine’s products take advantage of grapes’ antioxidant properties and contain GSM10, a unique chemical made of the fruit’s skin and seeds.

Le Domaine also “wants to assist down the process of skin ageing and allow everyone, regardless of gender or skin type, the opportunity to age healthily,” according to the brand’s website.

Still, Pitt reassured British Vogue he doesn’t “want to be running from [aging],” adding, “It’s a concept we can’t escape, and I would like to see our culture embracing it a bit more, talking about it in those terms. We discussed the phrase “anti-[aging]” when we first started Le Domaine. It’s absurd… However, taking good care of your skin is more important.

While Le Domaine intends to launch a fourth product in January called The Fluid Cream, it is unknown if Pitt will ever grow his line to be as extensive as Paltrow’s.

The former lovers might at the very least work together to create a Goop candle.
