Britney Spears releases first song with Elton John in six years: ‘It’s a big deal to me!’

Britney Spears expressed her ‘overwhelming’ reaction to the news of a new song with Elton John.

Britney Spears has returned to the music scene.

The icon, 40, took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that she is collaborating with “one of the most classic men of our time,” Elton John, 75, on her first new song in six years.

“Okay, then… This is my first song in six years “She started. “It’s pretty cool to be singing with one of our generation’s most classic men… Elton John!!!!!!!!!! I’m feeling a little overwhelmed… It means a lot to me!!! I’m meditating more and realising how valuable and precious my space is!!!”

 

 

 

On Tuesday, John gave fans a sneak peek of his new song with the pop star. “Hold Me Closer” is a new version of John’s classic 1971 song “Tiny Dancer.” It will be Spears’ first new album since her studio album “Glory” in 2016.

 

ELTON JOHN DISCUSSES BRITNEY SPEARS DUET ‘HOLD ME CLOSER’

John gave French diners a taste of the single by posting an intimate and brief performance at the La Guérite in Cannes on Instagram.

 

After having hip surgery last year, the “Bennie and the Jets” singer is seen in the video shaking hands with the DJ at the restaurant and taking a seat to prepare for his performance.

John greeted the crowd wearing a colourful matching two-piece set with Mickey Mouse on the shirt design, black-and-white striped sunglasses, and gold jewellery.

When the song began to play, John introduced it by saying, “‘Hold Me Closer,’ all right. Britney Spears, Elton John… let’s go!” He then showed a brief glimpse of the track.

 

John thanked the audience at the end of the Instagram video and announced that “Hold Me Closer” will be released on Friday.

Since her conservatory ended in November, Spears has yet to release new music. The star had been in the conservatory for 13 years.
