CD Projekt Red Is Working On A Cyberpunk 2077 Prequel, New Witcher Games, And An Original IP

Get ready for additional Cyberpunk 2077 instalments, Witcher video games, and a brand-new CD Projekt original.

CD Projekt disclosed that it has numerous new titles in development as part of their strategy presentation. Although details are slim, the company did announce that a sequel to 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077 is in development under the codename “Project Orion” and will “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe” when it is released.

There are also other new games set in the world of The Witcher that are in various states of development. Project Sirius, Project Polaris, and Project Canis Majoris are just a few of the several codenames for these that are currently under development. In addition to its two most well-known franchises, CD Projekt is also developing a fresh standalone IP called Project Hadar.

In its briefing, CD Projekt said that this year marked the beginning of a new “Parallel AAA Development” strategy, as well as plans to promote a healthy and sustainable workplace. The business intends to be more open as it grows its franchises, improve its production capabilities, and add more multiplayer experiences to its customarily single-player games.

Initiative Sirius
This Witcher game is marketed to both seasoned fans and those who are unfamiliar with the brand, according to Project Sirius. It is being created by The Molasses Flood, the company that created Flame in the Flood, and has more than 60 people working on it at this time.

Task Force Polaris
More than 150 people are working on Project Polaris at CD Projekt Red, which is characterised as a story-driven open-world RPG based on the foundation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Beginning with this game, a new Witcher trilogy will be released, with the goal of finishing it six years after the release of Polaris.

The Canis Majoris Project
This game will be created by a third-party team managed by ex-Witcher veterans and will be a narrative-driven single-player open-world RPG set in The Witcher universe.

Operation Orion
This new game, with the working title Cyberpunk 2077, will be released after the Phantom Liberty expansion and will once more be made by CD Projekt Red. It is situated in the Mike Pondsmith-created universe.

Task Force Hadar
Project Hadar, the newest IP from CD Projekt, is now at the conceptual stage and has been under “IP incubation” since 2021. According to the description, this game is different from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher and is being created entirely internally.

Beyond video game projects, CD Projekt also has television and cinema projects in the works. The company’s transmedia approach has been greatly helped by Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and it has ambitions to work with outside partners to create additional material based on its products. Additionally, a new studio called CD Projekt Red North America will open in the US.
