Citizen has introduced a new generation of CZ Smart smartwatches. Now running Wear OS 3, the CZ Smart relies on the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset and a 1.29-inch AMOLED display, among other features. The new series of CZ Smart smartwatches will be available in March from US$350.
Citizen has refreshed the CZ Smart, a Wear OS-based smartwatch it launched in 2020. Not only has Citizen upgraded the smartwatch’s internals, but it has also introduced different sizes. Previously, Citizen only sold the CZ Smart as a 46 mm smartwatch. However, the second-generation model comes in 41 mm and 44 mm sizes, mirroring the likes of the Galaxy Watch5 series.
At the heart of all second-generation CZ Smart smartwatches is the Snapdragon Wear 4100+rather than the newer Snapdragon W5+. Unfortunately, the latter remains missing from the western market despite its introduction last summer. Citizen has also equipped this year’s CZ Smart with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, more staples of recent Wear OS smartwatches. Citizen claims that its new smartwatches will last up to a day between charges and should take 40 minutes to recharge fully too, like other Wear OS smartwatches released in the last few years.
Thankfully, Citizen pre-installs Wear OS 3, rather than the older Wear OS 2. The OS operates within a 1.29-inch AMOLED display, regardless of the model chosen. Unfortunately, Google Assistant is missing, but this is also the case on all but the Pixel Watch and recent Galaxy Watch smartwatches. Second-generation Citizen CZ Smart models will be available first in the US, where they will be available in March for US$350.
