George Ward, well known as Cherry Valentine to RuPaul’s Drag Race UK viewers, passed away on September 18. He was 28. No cause of death has been made public.
Ward’s parents released a statement in which they wrote, “It is with the most heartbreaking and deepest grief that we notify you that our George – Cherry Valentine — has unfortunately departed away.” “This will come as a great shock to the majority of people, and we recognise that there is no simple way to make this announcement.
His family stated, “Our lives will never be the same and we are still processing his passing. “We are aware of how he is adored and how many lives he has influenced. All we want in this time is for your patience and your prayers.
World of Wonder, which produces Drag Race, said in a statement of its own, “We are heartbroken to learn of the demise of George Ward, a.k.a. Cherry Valentine. Cherry will always be a cherished member of our Drag Race family because she is an artist, a nurse, and an activist. Cherry touched the lives of countless people with her love and contagious giggle. We extend our sincere sympathies to her family and friends.
Valentine participated in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Season 2 and was booted out in Episode 2.
