Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is today’s free game on the Epic Games Store. One can redeem it in the next twenty-four hours, but it’s best to wait a bit because of the sheer number of people trying to claim it.
Hideo Kojima’s critically-acclaimed Death Stranding is one of the more divisive games out there, with one faction calling it an artistic masterpiece while the other (rightfully) calls it a walking simulator. The game, initially a PlayStation exclusive, was then ported to PC and eventually remastered earlier this year. The result, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, added a few QoL upgrades and a new vehicle. The base game is now free to redeem on the Epic Games Store.
All one needs is an active Epic Games account to redeem their copy either via the Epic Games launcher or the website. One only has until tomorrow (December 26) to grab a copy. Given Death Stranding’s popularity, a lot of people are rushing to get their hands on it, so it could take a while before your request goes through.
Not too long ago, the Epic Games Store witnessed an exodus of gamers trying to get their free copy of GTA V, which resulted in the store crashing outright. Death Stranding could trigger a similar situation, at least in the first few hours of the giveaway. While many people have been able to secure a copy, others are stuck at various steps in the redemption process.
