Despite controversy surrounding the Olivia Wilde film, “Don’t Worry, Darling” opens to $19 million in its first weekend.

Off-screen conflicts plagued Olivia Wilde’s second movie.

At the box office, “Don’t Worry Darling” did not disappoint. The second movie to star Olivia Wilde brought in $19.2 million domestically, topping all other theatre releases in the country.

For a $30 million worldwide opening weekend, the psychological thriller, which stars Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, Chris Pine, and Nick Kroll, also made close to $11 million abroad.

The two-hour film, distributed by Warner Bros. in 4,113 cinemas, depicts a 1950s housewife who lives in an experimental utopian village with her husband before realising that what was thought to be a new, ideal way of life is actually concealed by terrible secrets.

The production of Wilde’s second film cost an estimated $35 million, and there was a lot of controversy behind the scenes, starting with the supposed firing of Shia LaBeouf as the lead actor in August 2020 and the subsequent casting of Harry Styles.

Olivia Wilde discusses the romance between Harry Styles: I’m more content than I’ve ever been.

After ending their seven-year engagement in November 2020, Wilde and Jason Sudeikis were spotted holding hands with Styles when he officiated his manager’s wedding in January 2021.

According to Box Office Mojo, the movie made an estimated $9.5 million on its opening day, another $5.8 million on Saturday, and about $4 million on Sunday, allowing it to hold the top slot for the whole weekend.

A re-release of James Cameron’s “Avatar” came in third with a total of $10 million. “The Woman King,” which debuted on September 16, took second with $11 million.

Olivia released a behind-the-scenes photo on Friday of herself reading scripts with Pugh, Styles, and screenwriter Katie Silberman on location.

The candid photo was captioned with “Don’t Worry Darling is officially open,” by Wilde. “Aaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I am incredibly appreciative of both this experience and the incredible work put out by the group of artists who made it possible. We came together to tell you a narrative, and we hope you enjoy it.”

OLIVIA WILDE DISREGARDS A QUESTION REGARDING FLORENCE PUGH’S DISAPPEARANCE AT THE VENICE PRESS CONFERENCE AND SHIA LABEOUF’S FIRING

Before the Venice Film Festival premiere, Florence Pugh, who plays Alice Chambers in DWD, fully disengaged from promotional duties in Italy and kept silent when it came to discussing the movie on social media up until the movie’s release.

Fans reportedly claimed to have seen Styles spit on Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival following a particularly heated red carpet where Harry and Olivia were kept apart and Florence never struck up a conversation with Olivia.

“This is an absurd tale.

a complete fiction and the outcome of a strange web illusion that is obviously deceptive and permits irrational speculation, “Fox News Digital was informed by Pine’s agent. Just to be clear, Chris Pine was not spit on by Harry Styles.

Unknown to why Pugh chose to remain silent about her part in the film, Wilde recently spoke about the contentious situation of having to fire Shia LaBeouf, who was originally cast as Jack.

According to her statement to Variety about LaBeouf, “His process was not conducive to the ethos that I require in my films.” “His method appears to in some ways demand a combative intensity, and I personally don’t think that’s conducive to the best results.

“I think the best approach to inspire people to produce their best work is to foster a climate of safety and trust. In the end, it is my duty to safeguard the cast and the production. That was my duty.

LaBeouf allegedly had scheduling issues, but a lawsuit filed in December 2020 by his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs claimed that he had abused her physically, mentally, and emotionally. The trial date for the continuing lawsuit is set for April 2023.

“After this incident, I learned a lot about his behaviour that really disturbed me… My top objective was to make Florence feel comfortable and supported because, especially with a movie like this, I knew I would be asking Florence to be in extremely vulnerable positions.

In a recent open letter to director Wilde, LaBeouf addressed rumours that he had been let go from “Don’t Worry Darling” and acknowledged that he had been clean for 627 days. Three days after starting his sobriety journey, on December 11, 2020, FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles.

“Isabel, my daughter, is five months old and has just started to utter the last portion of her laugh, which is AMAZING. Mia, my wife and I have reconnected and are working to create a happy, healthy family with each other “He composed.

“My flaws with Twigs are fundamental and genuine, but the story that has been told does not reflect them. I’m attempting to handle a complex problem with respect for her and the truth, which is why I’m keeping quiet. There is a time and place for dealing with such things. But there will never be a court date set for this case involving your movie and my “firing” to discuss the facts. Lies can become true if they are spread widely enough. As a result, it becomes even more difficult for me to escape the hole that I have dug for myself via my actions and support my family.”

Added him: “You were never going to fire me, Olivia. And while though I can get the appeal of pushing that tale given the current social climate and the social currency it brings, It’s not accurate. Therefore, I sincerely request that you update the story as far as you can in the spirit of making things right. I sincerely hope that none of this hurts you and that your movie is a success in every way.”
