Music legend Elton John has revealed he has lost his eyesight, sharing the heartbreaking news with fans and the theatre audience at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical in London on Sunday.
At 77, the British icon, known for his unforgettable hits like Rocket Man, Your Songand I’m Still Standingopened up about his recent struggle with vision loss. Though he was unable to see the musical performance, John expressed his appreciation for the show, saying he thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
“I have had issues with my eyesight, and now I’ve lost my sight,” he told the audience. “I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed it.”
In an emotional moment, the singer-songwriter also paid tribute to his husband, David Furnish, for his unwavering support during these difficult times.
“To my husband, who has been my rock because I haven’t been able to attend many of the previews,” John said, his voice full of gratitude. “It’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight.”
Elton John previously shared that he lost vision in one eye after suffering from a severe eye infection during a recent vacation.
