If you have a Fitbit Charge 5 and are always forgetting things, there’s good news: 9to5Google and Android Police say that the latest update to the fitness tracker adds an app that lets you ring your phone from your wrist. This feature has been on some Fitbit smartwatches for a while, but it’s exciting to see it come to one of the company’s simpler devices, especially since I used to ping my phone several times a day when I had an Apple Watch.
When Charge 5 owners install the 171.50 updates, they should get the “find my phone” feature for free. In this Fitbit help article, you can find out how to do that. Supposedly, the option will show up when you swipe down from the top of the screen, along with other options like sleep mode and payments. If you tap it, your phone will start to ring, even if it’s on silent (or at least it should be based on how other Fitbits work).

I say “reportedly” and “should” because it looks like the update is still spreading. When I open the Fitbit app, tap on my profile picture, and choose my Charge 5, the app doesn’t tell me there’s an update for it. At the time this was written, the 171.50 update wasn’t even on Fitbit’s official tracker. Hope it turns up before I lose my phone again, which could happen at any moment.
