The Foo Fighters announced that they will not be performing at the inaugural Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on Sunday, September 29.
The update was posted on the band’s official Instagram account on Thursday, September 26, stating, “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival. Please check the festival website for more information.” The message provided no further explanation, and the comment section on the post has been disabled.
The Seattle band’s festival cancellation comes as no surprise to some fans, who wondered why “they waited this long” to make an announcement. Some upset fans who bought tickets to the festival specifically to see front man Dave Grohl and the rest of the band expressed their disappointment after Soundside’s X account (formerly Twitter) posted an updated lineupsaying, “We are excited to welcome both Jack White and Greta Van Fleet to the lineup this Sunday, 9/29 ✋.”
One upset ticket buyer responded, “Oh. Are you excited??? Cause I need a refund.” Another added, “Unacceptable. We’ve known about the whole Dave Grohl bs for a couple weeks now. To tell us this a couple days before is pretty f****d up.” One fan even pointed out “Baby mama drama for Dave already???“
The scheduled performance would have been the band’s first appearance since Grohl, 55, posted a message on his personal Instagram page on September 10, stating, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.” Grohl continued, “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
The confession surprised fans of the Nirvana drummer, who have not been silent about their reactions on social media. One fan wrote, “Ugh, lost a lot of respect for this man who I have always loved ❤️,” while another asked, “Regain trust? For having no respect for your wife? Yeah, move along.” A third simply said “Aw, ffs, Dave… damn. Just damn.”
Grohl and his wifeJordyn Blum, got married on August 2, 2003, and have three children together. Violet Maye Grohl, 18, was born in 2006, followed by Harper Willow Grohl, 15, born in 2009, and their youngest, Ophelia Saint Grohl, 10, born in 2014.
