Google releases a free course on Kubernetes-based cloud computing foundations

This entry-level course would teach participants more about the fundamentals of the cloud, cloud computing, big data, and machine learning with a primary focus on developing their digital skills (ML).

In order to build a new basis for preparing students for entry-level Cloud jobs, Google Cloud and NASSCOM have worked together. Google Cloud, which was introduced on September 22, seeks to lay a strong basis for computing with the aid of “Google Cloud Computing Foundations with Kubernetes,” an introductory course developed in collaboration with Kubernetes and FutureSkills, a Meity-NASSCOM digital skilling programme.

While the primary focus would still be on developing digital skills, this introductory course is anticipated to give participants a foundational understanding of cloud computing as well as basic ideas in big data and machine learning (ML).

Additionally, the course would include hands-on training using the Google Cloud Skills Boost platform to support a variety of career paths, including those in data analytics, IT infrastructure, and the creation of Cloud native applications, among others.

“Google Cloud certifications will help employees authenticate their cloud skills, advance their careers, and revolutionise enterprises with Cloud technology,” said Anil Bhansali, VP of Engineering and Head of the India Development Center at Google Cloud.

Upon successfully completing the programme, the enrolled participants will receive a certificate of course completion and skill badges recognised by the industry. Additionally, the course will be free for new students and students at higher education institutions who want to upgrade their skills in emerging technologies.

CEO of NASSCOM Kirti Seth believes that an aligned course will provide people the opportunity to learn at their own pace in addition to giving them an introduction to cloud computing that covers the fundamentals of big data and machine learning.

A Gartner survey claims that as businesses continue to spend more in cloud-based services, the demand for expertise in the cloud ecosystem is rising and cloud technology is becoming more and more commonplace.

An open-source container orchestration system called Kubernetes is used to automate the scaling, management, and deployment of software. It builds on fifteen years of managing Google’s workloads in containers and the beneficial contributions of the open source community.
