Gurman: Apple is still developing an iPhone hardware subscription service that could go live this year.

Apple just introduced its new 14-series iPhone lineup. The predicted hardware subscription service that will combine Apple One with goods like the iPhone and iPad was absent from the presentation of new iPhones, even though pre-orders have already begun and deliveries may not begin until October.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated in his most recent Power On newsletter that this service is still in the works and might debut as early as this year.

Bloomberg reported on this brand-new iPhone hardware subscription business in March. This programme is referred to be Apple’s “largest push into automatically repeating sales ever,” according to the publication.

The Apple One bundles and AppleCare might be integrated with this new hardware subscription service. At the moment, Apple One and AppleCare are separate services. However, when you purchase an iPhone through the iPhone Upgrade Program, you do receive AppleCare.

In contrast to an instalment plan, the program’s monthly fee wouldn’t equal the device’s purchase price divided over 12 or 24 months. Instead, there would be a variable monthly price based on the user’s choice of equipment.

When new hardware is released, the corporation has talked about letting programme participants swap out their gadgets for newer models. Every year, it traditionally introduces new versions of its most popular products, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

In a follow-up statement, Gurman stated that Apple is “currently testing this new service.” He stated:

A hardware subscription service that will work with its Apple One bundles is still being developed by the company. This new service is currently being tested by Apple, and I do anticipate its release later this year or early in 2019.

To “avoid launch day complexity,” Apple decided not to reveal the hardware subscription service at the same time as the iPhone 14 announcement. In the end, it will introduce a completely new method of purchasing an iPhone.

This may be the ideal time for Apple to introduce this hardware subscription service, which would also arrive just in time for the holiday shopping season, with a new event planned for next month that will focus on iPads and Macs.
