How the royal family will receive the properties and wealth of Queen Elizabeth

According to Forbes magazine, the monarchy as a whole is valued at $88 billion, but Queen Elizabeth was only worth a small portion of that. But her family ought to receive $447 million of her personal funds instead.

She received $85 million upon the passing of her mother, and her husband Philip also left her another $12 million. Some of that money was inherited. The monarch receives 15% of the profits from the sizable estate of properties that once belonged to the monarchy and are now valued at around $10 billion; this is where a significant portion of her income also comes from. After her passing on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96, that income will now go directly to her successor, Charles.

The Duchy of Lancaster, another land and property portfolio held in trust for the Sovereign, generates a separate and entirely private income. It brings in around $24 million annually. Prince Charles will also receive that.

According to Angela Levin, author of “Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; From Outcast to the Future Queen Consort,” “the main question is who she [left] her money to.” “Did she give Prince Andrew or Prince Harry much? Have they earned it? ’

Prince Charles will inherit a sizable fortune upon becoming king, therefore it seems possible that the queen provided for all of her other children and grandkids in her will, notwithstanding their misbehaviour.

According to numerous reports, Andrew is the queen’s favourite child, and according to royal analyst Josh Rom, it’s possible that she has set aside a chunk of her wealth for him. “While he wishes to improve his reputation, it is unlikely that this will occur. The public will undoubtedly remember his affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein and his refusal to sever links with him despite being aware of some of his crimes.

“But there are [the queen’s] other children – Anne and Edward — as well as their offspring too. She must have wanted to take care of everyone.

With many of the royals moving and Charles rearranging the deck of cards about who lives where, we are likely to witness what has been dubbed the “Game of Homes” in regards to the several opulent homes and palaces. Of course, he will have first choice, followed by Prince William and his son Prince George.

Buckingham Palace will be Charles’ residence in London, while he is also anticipated to make additional spaces accessible to the general public.

The fairy-tale Windsor palace where the queen moved permanently earlier this year is where Prince William and Kate Middleton are most likely to make their home. It is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world at 1,000 years old, yet Charles is rumoured to not be a fan. This is due to the fact that it is quite noisy due to its proximity to Heathrow Airport. In the centre of London, at Kensington Palace, the couple will continue to reside in a private apartment.

The queen’s customary vacation residence in the Scottish Highlands, Balmoral, may become a museum.

Charles and Camilla don’t require a second Scottish residence because they like Birkhall, which he inherited from his grandmother, according to Levin. Kate and William have never mentioned how much they adore the location.

The only remaining properties are the royal estate Sandringham in Norfolk, Charles’s private property Highgrove in Gloucestershire, where he really resides, and his London residence, Clarence House, which he moved into upon the death of his grandmother.

According to one idea, Sandringham, where Charles has already established an organic farm, may become his rural home while Clarence House, which was formerly designated for Prince Harry, is now saved for when Prince George reaches adulthood. Charles may use Highgrove for a few weeks each year while paying a fee to utilise it as a museum.

The modifications probably won’t have much of an impact on Charles’ siblings. Following the death of his grandmother, Prince Andrew took over the Royal Lodge in Windsor. Prince Edward, however, is likely to remain in his residence at Bagshot Park, which is owned by the Crown Estate. And the queen gave Princess Anne Gatcombe Park as her residence.
