When Overwatch 2 launches on October 4, you’ll need to input your phone number as part of Activision Blizzard’s SMS Protect function in order to play. The same holds true for freshly formed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare accounts as well as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when it launches.
If you have an eligible phone number—some numbers, such those on pre-paid plans, are not eligible—not it’s difficult to accomplish, but Activision Blizzard hasn’t provided gamers with clear instructions on how to do it. This is how:
Join Battle.net by going there.
Click your account name in the top navigation bar of the website. (If you haven’t logged in already, it will say My Account.) It is completely to the right.
Click Account Settings in the dropdown menu.
On the navigation bar’s left side, click the three blue lines.
Click Account Details from there.
You should input your phone number in the third field below. You’re good to go if you already have one. If not, select Add Phone Number and enter yours. You will receive a security code from Activision Blizzard, which you must enter on-screen.
You should select Update in the phone number box if you need to modify your phone number. Make sure you want to on the following page, and if you do, follow the procedures there to add your number for the first time.
