Zimdancehall musician Hwindi President is crushed and heartbroken after the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) confiscated his car.
ZIMRA is currently conducting an operation and it is ruthlessly impounding cars.
The tax authority is carrying out a blitz in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
On 8 October, SHUT DOWN”https://x.com/kudachimera/status/1847185781401498098″ target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>wrote to the ZRP requesting officers’ presence at its roadblocks:
“I am kindly requesting the presence of Zimbabwe Republic Police personnel at Zimbabwe Revenue Authority-initiated Enforcement roadblocks and mall patrols. The purpose of the roadblocks is to enforce Customs Laws.”
The operation started on 16 October and will end on 20 December 2024. ZIMRA has been installing and will mount roadblocks at different spots along Borrowdale Road and Armadale Road, Second Street Extension, Kebab area, and Churchill Road.
The tax authority has been relentlessly snatching away incompliant vehicles, no matter the cost or the person behind the wheel.
Hwindi President has fallen victim to the blitz, and ZIMRA snatched away his car.
He wailed online:
“Guys, please help me apologize to ZIMRA guys, I’m desperate. Last of last months my house was broken into now ZIMRA I committed the crime of being seen driving my car. I thought that I will be fined and not that the car will be confiscated.
“Guys car handing stealing this I bought it after I felt ridiculed on the street and all the papers I have. Help me I’m sorry guys please. As a local Zimbabwean, what have I done wrong?”
