‘I Have No Judgment,’ Sarah Ferguson says of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry forging their own path.

The author of A Very Fascinating Woman, the Duchess of York, tells PEOPLE that Princess Diana would be “extremely proud of her grandchildren.”

Sarah Ferguson has stated that she has “no judgment” as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle go their separate ways.

Sarah, 63, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are forging their own path as they raise their two young children, 3-year-old son Archie Harrison and 1-year-old daughter Lilibet Diana, in California.

“I don’t believe that any single person has the authority to pass judgment on another. I’m not in a position to form any conclusions “According to the Duchess of York, whose latest novel, A Most Interesting Woman, will be released on March 7. “I’ve been judged my entire life, and I have no opinion about the Sussexes.”

“I believe [Princess] Diana would be extremely proud of her grandchildren. Not only the Sussex grandchildren, but also Will’s children, “The Duchess continues, alluding to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children: Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.

The Duchess previously told PEOPLE that she and Princess Diana, whom she called “Duch,” were best friends since they were youngsters, long before Diana married Prince Charles and Sarah married his brother Prince Andrew.

Ferguson also commented about being a grandma herself to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s children. Princess Eugenie welcomed her son August in February 2021 and is presently expecting her second child with her husband Jack Brooksbank.

“They just follow me around like Peter Pan,” the Duchess says of her grandchildren. “My name is ‘Super Gran Pan!'”

She continues, “‘Well, has it improved your life?’ everyone asks. ‘No, because I live [in the perspective of] 3- to 6-year-olds,’ I say. So I’ve now got another audience that likes me.”

It’s no surprise that the Duchess is in sync with her young grandkids; she’s a children’s book author, though she admits that with her latest book, which follows the 2021 blockbuster Her Heart for a Compass, “I’m moving towards female detectives.”
