Images purportedly depicting a Silent Hill 2 remake have surfaced online.
According to noted insider Dusk Golem, the images, which have been widely circulated on social media (mirrored by @the marmolade), are reportedly from an internal pitch demo for the game, which VGC’s own sources have corroborated.
“These are from an internal pitch demo from Bloober before they got greenlit,” he explained, referring to the low-quality images. “This isn’t actually how the final game looks,” he added.
Last February, VGC reported that Konami was planning to resurrect the long-dormant horror game series, and this remake is said to be part of that plan.
As VGC reported earlier this year, a Silent Hill 2 remake is reportedly in the works. According to sources, the game will be a limited-time exclusive for PlayStation consoles (alongside PC).
Another episodic series of Silent Hill “short stories” is said to be in the works at an Annapurna Interactive studio, the acclaimed publisher behind games like Sayonara Wild Hearts, Outer Wilds, and Telling Lies.
Over the last 18 months, the Medium studio Bloober Team has been constantly linked to the Silent Hill franchise. Last year, the Polish developer announced a “strategic cooperation agreement” with Konami, just months after Bloober’s CEO claimed the company was working on an existing horror IP from “a very well-known gaming publisher.”
Akira Yamaoka, the composer for Silent Hill, also worked on Bloober’s 2021 title The Medium and teased his next game project as “the one you’ve been hoping to hear about.”
Last year, VGC reported on Konami’s plans to increase premium game development with new instalments and remakes for its biggest franchises, including Metal Gear and Castlevania.
