In South Florida, a dump truck killed Steelers Dwayne Haskins.

On a South Florida highway, Dwayne Haskins, quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was killed by a dump truck.

To train with the Steelers’ quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers.

The crash occurred around 6:37 a.m. on I-595 West near the I-95 intersection outside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Officials did not say why Haskins was walking on the roadway, said Lt. Indiana Miranda, a highway police spokesman.

“He was merely crossing the highway,” Miranda added.

The driver is fully cooperating, she told The Post.

He had been in the NFL since 2019, first with Washington and then with the Steelers as a third-string quarterback. The Steelers re-signed him for one year at $2.5 million.

“I am devastated and speechless,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement. “He instantly became a member of our Steelers family and one of our hardest workers on the field and in our community. Dwayne was a fantastic teammate, but he was also a great friend. I’m devastated. His wife Kalabrya and entire family are in our prayers during this trying time.”

With the Washington Commanders, Haskins struggled once granted the starting role.

“We are heartbroken to learn about Dwayne Haskins Jr’s untimely passing,” Commanders co-owners Dan and Tanya Snyder said. “He was a talented young guy with a contagious charisma. We are devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dwayne’s family and friends.

Before joining the league, he led Ohio State to the Rose Bowl in 2018-19, beating Washington in Urban Meyer’s farewell game. Also a Heisman Trophy nominee, he set Big Ten single-season passing yards (4,831), touchdown passes (50).

“The Ohio State Department of Athletics is deeply grieved by the passing of Dwayne Haskins,” the athletic department said. “We are thinking of the entire Haskins family. Our sympathies are with his family, friends, and former teammates, coaches, and coaches.

When J.T. Barrett got wounded mid-game against Michigan in 2017, Haskins came off the bench to lead the Buckeyes to victory. When Haskins got to the NFL, Washington had difficulties with his work ethic and repeated COVID-19 breaches. He was benched for Taylor Heinicke late in the 2020 season and dismissed.

The Steelers signed him in 2021 as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. He was inactive for all but one game last season.

This week, Haskins shared an Instagram story with Steelers running back Najee Harris and others, probably in South Florida. “‘It is what it is’ will keep you at peace,” he said.
