Jeff Bridges revealed he worked with a trainer every day to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle after battling cancer.

“The first goal was, how long can I stand up? And my record was 45 seconds; that’s how long I could stand up,” the actor recently told the Independent. “And then it was, how many steps can I take? Oh, good. Now I’m going to walk down the hall — all this with oxygen, of course.”

Bridges, 72, explained that with the help of his trainer, he was able to take longer walks each day in preparation for the August 2021 wedding.

“Finally, one day I said, ‘Maybe I can do it, you know.’ And it turns out I not only got to walk her down the aisle, but I got to do the wedding dance [to Ray Charles’ ‘Ain’t That Love’]. That was terrific,” he gushed.

The “Big Lebowski” star’s youngest daughter, Hayley Bridges, married wealth advisor Justin Shane at Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez, Calif., on Aug. 21, 2021.

“My dad gave a welcome speech and touched on a trait of Justin’s that I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him,” the interior designer, 37, told Brides at the time. “I believe this to be an example of his wonderful energy.”

The 72-year-old actor shared that he was in remission less than a month after his daughter’s wedding.

“I was pretty close to dying,” he told People in May. “The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode. I was ready to go. I was dancing with my mortality.

“I had no defenses. That’s what chemo does — it strips you of all your immune system. I had nothing to fight it. COVID made my cancer look like nothing.”
