Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot from the original “Beverly Hills Cop” cast are returning for the Netflix “Axel Foley” movie.

The ensemble from the first series, including Judge Reinhold and John Ashton’s Detective Billy Rosewood and Sgt. Taggart, sidekick cops to the Eddie Murphy character; Paul Reiser; and Bronson Pinchot, are returning in Netflix’s new Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.

In the first two movies, Reiser portrayed Jeffrey Friedman, Axel Foley’s partner as a Detroit police officer, while Pinchot played the sarcastic art gallery salesman.

Screenplay by Will Beall is being directed by Mark Molloy. Murphy is producing for Jerry Bruckheimer Films alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman.

For Jerry Bruckheimer Films, EPs Ray Angelic and Charisse Hewitt-Webster are also co-producing with Melissa Reid.

The sequel’s plotline is a secret, and it is presently filming in California with tax credits totaling $15.7 million. The first three Beverly Hills Cop films, which were released in 1984, 1987, and 1994, made a combined $616.2M in worldwide box office revenue.

You were first informed by Deadline that Netflix had acquired a licence for the Paramount sequel with the possibility of a sequel. Murphy previously acted as blaxploitation icon Rudy Ray Moore in the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name. Both Murphy and the film received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Feature.
