A hamburger and a fully functional chandelier have been converted into Katy Perry on the Met Gala red carpet in previous years.
While she has big plans for the 2022 event, her sartorial inclination may surprise admirers this time.
In an interview with Flaunt Weekly, the pop artist and shoe designer admits she’ll always play the quirky, crazy, wild card.
“I’m going to play a different card this time.”
This year’s party will be co-hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the dress code is “gilded glamour,” as Vogue announced earlier this week.
Not hard for a diva who wore a gold chainmail Atelier Versace short with matching angel wings, right?
“Maybe I’ll simply show up in armour,” Perry quips. (Lil Nas X would approve, as he did at the 2021 Met Gala.)
“Perhaps I won’t go because I’ll send someone in my armor to pretend to be me!” he adds
Perhaps the 37-year-old “Dark Horse” singer will choose for a less campy theme this year.
However, she has been selecting more “sophisticated and sleek and sexy” red carpet and press event styles.
Expect a statement-making outfit from the star on Met Gala night.
“I know what the people want and who I am. “I always want to put on a fantastic show,” Perry said, adding that she “never regrets” her wardrobe choices.
