With the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro due out next year, Apple will further distinguish between its “Pro” and non-“Pro” iPhone models, predicts astute Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Earlier today, Kuo said in a series of tweets that distinguishing the iPhone lineup even more would boost sales of the “Pro” models. According to Kuo, Apple would do this by utilising a “precise product segmentation strategy to produce greater sales/profits in a mature market,” and “Apple will also start establishing differentiation between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro.”
Allowing each of the iPhone 15 models unique features will probably achieve this differentiation, giving Apple more opportunities to sell the upcoming iPhone models. The display size and battery life are the only elements that distinguish the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, as well as the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max may be the sole model to come with a periscope telephoto camera system. It is still unclear how capabilities will be distributed among the iPhone 15 lineup; some features, like Dynamic Island, are anticipated to be available on all models.
The “Android camp still poses no danger to Apple in the high-end market” because to brand value and ecosystem disadvantages is seen to be one of the reasons Apple is able to do this, “even though hardware innovation has gotten more challenging and the industry has matured.” The shift by Qualcomm of high-end CPUs for Android devices from Samsung to TSMC, Apple’s chip supplier, as well as a determined push toward foldable phones, according to Kuo, could aid Android in regaining ground in the coming years.
