Texas-born pop voice Lauren Presley returns with new single ‘People Leave’.
The singer has made her mark this year, peppering streaming services with a steady flow of ace singles. Lauren Presley is building towards something, with each release taking her closer to her goal.
Future-facing pop that comes from the heart, Lauren Presley finds solace in the work of Nessa Barrett, and is worth comparing to UPSAHL or even Maggie Lindemann in the assurance of her approach.
With winter drawing in, ‘People Leave’ finds Lauren Presley at her most introspective. A punchy, powerful return, the lyrics attempt to heal old wounds, while the potent arrangement offers something punchy, and almost rock adjacent.
All roaring electric guitars, rumbling bass, and punchy drums, ‘People Leave’ is about learning to put the past behind you.
She comments…
“We wrote this song about having past trauma from people walking out of your life, especially at a young age. And how as an adult that fear of abandonment still sticks with you, and comes out in your relationships even the healthy ones. It’s like it’s engraved in you and you can’t help it, but you try your best to trust again.”
