Legendary 80s star confirms she’s returning to music 13 years after last album – and huge Netflix hit

After a long hiatus, the singer said they are “very keen” to make new music

A LEGENDARY 80s star has confirmed her return to music more than a decade after her last album.

The singer-songwriter and record producer has 25 UK Top 40 singles to her name.

Kate Bush released her most recent studio album, 50 Words for Snowin November 2011.

However, 13 years on, the star has revealed her desire to start working on new music.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Kate said although she isn’t currently developing new material, she is “very keen” to do so.

She explained having been kept busy with other endeavours.

This includes archive work, redesigning her website and putting a lyric book together.

The singer said: “I’m very keen to start working on a new album when I’ve got this finished.

“I’ve got lots of ideas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time.”

Continuing, Kate said she felt “really ready” to do something new throughout the past year.

In 2022, she gained new exposure when a hit Netflix show used her 1985 classic Running Up That Hill.

Science-fiction period drama Stranger Things launched on the streamer back in 2016.

While the song featured during a powerful scene with character Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink).

Speaking to Variety, Kate discussed the impact of her song’s inclusion in the series.

She said: “I thought what a lovely way for the song to be used in such a positive way — you know, as a kind of Talisman, almost, for Max.

“And yeah, I think it’s very touching, actually.”

Meanwhile, Kate had appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme as she launched her new short film.

Titled Little Shrew, the animation is intended to raise money for the charity War Child.

Kate wrote and directed the black-and-white, four minute piece in the hopes of fundraising for children affected by war.

In a further personal touch, it’s set to her 2011 track Snowflake.
