Lisseth Chavez from Legends of Tomorrow joins ABC’s The Rookie for Season 5

Lisseth Chavez, alum of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, is joining ABC’s The Rookie as a new rookie.

Chavez will appear as a guest star in several Season 5 episodes of the Entertainment One and ABC Signature co-production, according to TVLine.

Chavez will play Celina, a new rookie with easy confidence and high Academy marks, whose unconventional approach to police work will present a unique challenge for her training officer.

Fun fact: In TVLine’s annual Dream Roles for Stars of Cancelled Shows feature, a young, new rookie in the form of Arrowverse alum… Kang, Nicole (of the similarly snuffed Batwoman).

 

Prior to her role as the extraterrestrial-savvy Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz (the Arrowverse’s first canonically asexual character) on Legends of Tomorrow, Chavez appeared on Chicago P.D. (where she played former undercover cop Vanessa Rojas in Season 7), Station 19, The OA, The Fosters (as Ximena Sinfuego, an art student who befriended Callie), and Murder in the First.

 

Tru Valentino, who appeared as Officer Aaron Thorsen on The Rookie last season, has been promoted to series regular for Season 5.

The Rookie returns for Season 5 on Sunday, September 25 at 10/9c, following AFV, Celebrity Jeopardy!, and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

The Rookie Feds (no colon! ), a Niecy Nash-led spinoff, will premiere this fall — on Monday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. (leading out of Bachelor in Paradise).
