LOC unveils Afrobeat star, Olamide as African Military Games brand ambassador

Foremost Afrobeat star and music producer, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has been unveiled as the brand ambassador of the 2024 Africa Military Games, which will be held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, from November 18 to 30.

At the event held at the Lagos Continental Hotel, on Tuesday, Chairman, AMGA 2024 LOC, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, said that the choice of Olamide as AMGA2024 Brand Ambassador aligns with the LOC’s commitment to enhancing the event’s visibility, especially among young audiences across Africa.

He said that Olamide embodies the spirit of resilience, creativity, and unity that defines the Africa Military Games. “We are thrilled to welcome Olamide to the AMGA2024 family, with his influence, we believe he will not only raise awareness about the Games but also inspire a generation of Africans to celebrate our shared values and cultural heritage,” Marquis, said.

Known for his groundbreaking contributions to African music and his powerful influence on pop culture, Olamide will play a central role in promoting the
Games and inspiring Africans to rally behind the athletes who will be competing at the event.

Excited by the opportunity to represent AMGA2024, Olamide said: “It is an incredible honour to be part of such a significant event that unites our continent through sports and shared values. I look forward to using my voice to bring people together, celebrate our athletes, and promote the powerful message of unity that AMGA2024 represents.”

He acknowledged sacrifices made by the military and expressed pride in collaborating with them as part of a broader initiative aimed at involving the entertainment industry in fostering opportunities for youth.

He recalled how he had previously dedicated a song to the armed forces in 2016/2017 and hoped for further collaboration between society, entertainment industry, and the military which can create opportunities for the youth.

The AMGA 2024  will bring together over 44 African nations, 2000 athletes, both men and women, in Abuja for an array of sporting events including, badminton, boxing, basketball, combat sports, swimming, football, golf, judo, kickboxing, obstacle crossing, shooting, squash, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwando, volleyball, and wrestling, among other sporting activities.

As part of his role, Olamide will engage in promotional activities, including media appearances, social media campaigns, and on-ground activations, the LOC said, adding that his involvement aims to generate widespread enthusiasm for the Games and build a lasting impact that goes beyond the event itself.
