Maci Bookout of Teen Mom reunites with ex Ryan Edwards for an emotional discussion about their son Bentley.

Maci Bookout confronted ex-Ryan Edwards on Teen Mom: Family Reunion on February 21 to discuss the prospect of co-parenting their 14-year-old son Bentley together.

Maci Bookout McKinney and Ryan Edwards have promised to prioritize their child.

The exes reunited on Teen Mom: Family Reunion on February 21 to discuss the best approach to co-parent their 14-year-old son Bentley.

“I just want to be able to—for Maci to be okay with me seeing him,” Ryan explained to hosts Nessa and Dr. Cheyenne Bryant. “I haven’t spent time with him just the two of us in a long time.”

MTV’s star regretfully said, “I simply miss him. I wasn’t always there merely to watch him play baseball.”

After hearing Ryan’s point of view, Maci began to cry as she recognized his anguish.

“I really respect the vulnerability and ownership, and perhaps where he fell short,” she remarked before turning to Ryan. “Bentley is hurting, but he loves you so deeply that there is only one person who can help him. That person is you. He values your relationship more than anything else.”

The pair proceeded to apologize to one another for the hurtful things they’d said about each other, with Maci acknowledging that she could have treated the father of her oldest child “more like a human being.” Maci and their husband Taylor McKinney have two children, Jayde, 7, and Maverick, 6.

“I’d like to attempt to do this co-parenting simply between the two of us,” she added. “When we become more at ease and confident, we can invite others to join us.”

Maci and Ryan first appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2009 when MTV cameras watched the couple become parents for the first time. Teen Mom cameras followed their separated relationship when they split up in 2010.

Ryan and his parents, Jen and Larry Edwards, eventually left the show in 2021, following a contentious Teen Mom reunion discussion with Maci and her spouse.

Regardless of the past, Maci is optimistic that her connection with Ryan and his family will continue to improve at its own speed.

“With Jen and I, I definitely don’t feel like we’re in the very awful position that we were in a couple of years ago, but I don’t think one of us wants to rush things,” she said. “There’s a lot of nonsense. There’s a lot of stuff we have to put up with.”
