Makwa Reveals Kwesta’s Ignorance Regarding Mayibabo’s Royalty Distribution. South African producer and musician Makwa has been very vocal about the issues surrounding the royalty distribution for Kwesta’s 2016 hit single “Mayibabo,” featuring DJ Maphorisa, DJ Buckz, and Okmalumkoolkat.

After the former Rhythm City actress Itumeleng Bokaba revealed she was paid just 59 cents for her vocals on the song “Mayibabo,” producer Makwa also came forward, stating that he received no payment at all for his contribution to the track.

Questions started pouring in from fans who wanted to know how Questthe owner of the song, allowed such exploitation to happen. Makwa, however, came to Kwesta’s defence, explaining that the rapper was unaware of what transpired with the song’s royalty distribution and only found out, like everyone else, after Itumeleng Bokaba’s revelation.

“He actually contacted me about this yesterday. He told me that the Lady who was singing the hook exposed all of this. Naye akazi nix but he contacted Sony about this,” Makwa said.

Additionally, Makwa explained that the issue was not picked up by his distributor, meaning it wasn’t anyone else’s fault but Nota’s. Makwa accused Nota of cheating everyone out of their rightful shares of the song.

“Bro we only found out about this yesterday, even my publisher didn’t pick this up. So I went through my portal and saw that neh man I’m not registered on this song. It is not someone, it’s Nota,” Also added.
