Moon Knight Confirms 5 New MCU Gods

Since it was announced that Christian Bale will portray Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, fans have been anticipating the MCU to be flooded with gods to murder. Many expected Moon Knight to be a good moment to introduce other gods than Marc Spector’s Khonshu.

The Direct started in late 2020 that Moon Knight was casting for the Egyptian pantheon. According to the current Moon Knight episode, such casting calls were presumably for the gods’ Avatars.

The third episode of Oscar Isaac’s MCU series has thrown some insight on that topic.

The Ennead Enters the MCU

The Ennead, comprised of five Egyptian gods: Horus, Isis, Tefnut, Osiris, and Hathor, were presented in the newest Moon Knight episode.

They are Declan Hannigan, Nagisa Morimoto, Hayley Konadu, Selim’s Khalid Abdalla, and lastly Yatzil’s Dana Bermudez. These are the only Avatars with names.

The tense connection between Khonshu and his other Egyptian gods and why they expelled him is eventually revealed by Osiris as the moon god “almost exposing us.”

However, as Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) noted in the first episode, the Ennead should be nine strong. Anubis, the deity of death, and Seth, the god of battle, are the only two Egyptian gods absent from the list.

Are These Egyptian Deities?

Except for Khonshu and Seth, the Egyptian pantheon seldom interacts with humans in the comics, as it does in the MCU. They prefer to hide in the protection of the Overvoid, which Kohnshu mentioned in this episode.
