More Before Microsoft’s launch event on October 12, the specifications for the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 have leaked.

The likelihood that Microsoft will introduce the Surface Laptop 5 13.5 or Surface Laptop 5 15 with AMD Ryzen APUs is reportedly declining. Instead, both laptops might come equipped with the Surface Pro 9’s Intel Alder Lake-U series processors. The Surface Laptop series for this year may also receive minor cosmetic modifications, according to an apparent marketing image leak.

 

Numerous data concerning the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 have been revealed by Aggiornamenti Lumia. The pair, which will both be unveiled on October 12 at a larger hardware launch event, is likely to include four variants, including the rumoured Surface Pro 9 5G. For comparison, it is believed that the Microsoft SQ3, a modified version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor, powers the Surface Pro 9 5G.

 

Comparatively, the leak from Aggiornamenti Lumia only makes mention of the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 with Intel processors. Therefore, it is more likely than not that Microsoft has stopped providing AMD Ryzen APUs with its Surface Laptop line. Instead, the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U, two Alder Lake-U series processors with 15 W TDPs, 10 cores, 12 threads, and 12 MB of L3 cache, will ship with the Surface Laptop 5.

 

Surprisingly, the 15-inch model meets the same criteria. In other words, the Surface Laptop 3 13.5, Surface Laptop 5 15, and Surface Pro 9 will all use the same processors and, in the case of consumer variants, 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM. If Microsoft’s present plan holds true for its upcoming generation of devices, the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 will both be offered in corporate versions with 32 GB of RAM.

 

The trio will also keep the display resolutions of its predecessor. In fact, the above-mentioned leaked image shows that Microsoft has not even attempted to thin the Surface Laptop 5’s bezel, a design choice that makes the Surface Laptop 4 look dated. It is currently unknown if the Surface Laptop 5 will include 120 Hz displays as well. Additionally, according to Aggiornamenti Lumia, Microsoft will offer the Surface Pro 9 series in the colours Black, Forest, Graphite, Platinum, and Sapphire.
