Flaunt Weeekly

Brazilian bass virtuoso Pops Magellan is breaking new ground with the release of her latest single, “Deep Thoughts,” which we are pleased to premiere today in advance of its release tomorrow, November 7, 2024. “Deep Thoughts” is a standout track set to make waves in the music world. Known for her genre-bending sound and magnetic stage presence, Pops dives into the depths of mental resilience and self-liberation in this powerful new release.

‘Deep Thoughts’ is about those times when our minds hold us back, when thoughts start to ferment, keeping us from expanding until we’re stuck in a fog. This track is a journey through that mental loop, capturing the tension of being held back by your own mind and the release that comes when you finally break through. It’s about finding clarity and hope on the other side and surrendering to the beautiful process of acceptance and evolving.
~ Pops Magellan

“Deep Thoughts” is the second single off her highly anticipated solo EP, Damageand will be available on streaming platforms starting November 7, 2024. The song brings together Brazilian maracatu rhythms, funk grooves, and immersive, spacey soundscapes, creating a rich, multi-layered experience that reflects Pops’ journey through her own struggles with overthinking and the powerful breakthroughs that followed.

Pops Magellan wrote, produced, and played synths and bass on “Deep Thoughts,” also crafting the single’s collage cover from her own photos. For this track, she brought in drummer Noa Kahn, whose fierce, virtuosic energy perfectly complements Magellan’s vision. Grammy-winning Taylor Graves and esteemed producer Randy Emata co-produced and played additional synths, solidifying Magellan’s place among industry heavyweights. Together, they bring a distinct energy that radiates from each beat and bass line, making “Deep Thoughts” both a personal anthem and an infectious groove. Pops Magellan’s intricate bass lines and synth work are at the core of the track, weaving a tale of tension, release, and self-acceptance. Known for her world-spanning career and collaborations with global icons like Adam Lambert, Willow, and Avril Lavigne, Pops brings her diverse influences into a solo project that’s as visually compelling as it is sonically profound.
