This is not your usual mall Santa, as one of the shocked bad guys remarks in the latest Violent Night video.

 

A family is being held hostage on Christmas Eve by a group of mercenaries, and Universal has just released the trailer for this “coal-dark” action comedy starring David Harbour (Stranger Things).

 

“Santa Claus is visiting,” In his finest Bruce Willis in Die Hard growl, Harbour as St. Nick snarls. “Season’s Beatings are in order.”

 

In the movie Violent Night, which is directed by Tommy Wirkola of Norway (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters), John Leguizamo plays the main bad guy alongside Cam Gigandet, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, and Beverly D’Angelo. Pat Casey and Josh Miller (Sonic the Hedgehog) wrote the original screenplay, while Marc S. Fischer served as executive producer. Producers of the movie include Guy Danella, David Leitch, and Kelly McCormick of 87North.

 

87North’s previous films include Nobody, John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, so don’t expect It’s A Wonderful Life.

 

The movie will be screened worldwide thanks to Universal Pictures. The movie “Violent Night” debuts on December 2.
