Nubia Z50 officially set to launch as a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered flagship Android smartphone in December 2022

Nubia has announced that its answer to new Android smartphones such as the Motorola Moto X40 will be introduced before the end of 2022. The OEM is also gunning for rumored devices such as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with updated rear camera tech for the upcoming Z50. It is also touted as having the RAM and internal storage specs to match its new top-end silicon.

Nubia has set a surprisingly early launch date for the debut of a next-gen flagship Android smartphone with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The OEM has also revealed that this device (which, oddly, seems to be called the Z50 even though its predecessor was the Z40 Pro) will challenge the Xiaomi 13 and iQOO 11 series with cutting-edge LPDDR5X RAM and storage with the latest UFS 4.0 spec.

Some upcoming mobile devices linked to similar premium internals are tipped to launch with the highest-end 1-inch main rear cameras available to smartphones. Nubia has not confirmed that the Z50 will be one of them, although it claims that its “new custom optical system”, resulting in a potentially upgraded 35mm lens compared to the one in the Z40 Procan capture even more light than those unusually large sensors.

Therefore, this may be Nubia’s way of compensating for the lack of one in the Z50. This may be confirmed or denied during its launch event, now officially slated to take place just a few days after that of the Motorola Motorbike X40 on December 192022.
