On the set of a Sofia Coppola film, see Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny as Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Sofia Coppola, the film’s director, declared that she is “happy to be presenting Priscilla’s tale.”

The Presleys are represented by Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny.

The 25-year-old star of Euphoria and the 25-year-old Mare of Easttown actress were pictured on the set of Sofia Coppola’s upcoming A24 film, Elvis and Me, which is based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 autobiography. Elordi was noticed with black hair as Elvis Presley, and Spaeny appeared in a scene with Priscilla’s well-known hairstyle.

The box office success of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis film earlier this year, which starred Austin Butler as the legendary performer and Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla in a plot that also featured Tom Hanks as manager Col. Tom Parker, inspired the development of this project.

The movie, which is currently streaming on HBO Max, was complimented by Priscilla, who is now 77, and other family members.

In his September 2022 GQ cover story, Elordi discussed how Elvis had influenced him. The article mentioned that the actor had purchased Peter Guralnick’s biography of Elvis, Last Train to Memphis, after watching the trailer for the Baz Luhrmann film.

Elordi said, “Elvis Presley aspired to be James Dean, I thought. He aspired to emulate Marlon Brando. I almost thoroughly researched every actor from that era, and I misrepresented [Elvis] as a performer and vocalist. Then again, he was an actor. I suppose in a way I’m attempting to absorb their knowledge. Since I clearly don’t have any friends who have actually gone through the same situation, they serve as sort of a lighthouse for me.”

Coppola, 51, tweeted a picture of the screenplay and Priscilla’s book on Instagram earlier this month, writing, “Return to work! I’m eager to share Priscilla’s tale.”

She also discussed how her picture will vary from Luhrmann’s, according to Collider.

“Although I appreciated Baz’s collage-like technique to telling his narrative, I’m pleased Priscilla’s story wasn’t covered in great detail so that I could now delve deeply. I think Baz is so special, and his interpretation of the tale was so original “Coppola said. “However, because Priscilla is such a tiny role in that movie, I never felt like I was in the same vein as her. I adore how much interest there was in his picture on Elvis, and I’m thrilled that another film about Priscilla will be released in a few years.”

Two entirely different perspectives on the same events and time period, she thought, would be interesting.
