Featuring a 1.78-inch AMOLED display, the Nord Watch
The company made a horrible first impression with the OnePlus Watch. It received harsh criticism for its unreliable step tracking and bad software experience. Following that, the BBK-owned company never ventured into the smartwatch market, yet it did not completely give up on the niche either. The fitness band that OnePlus did introduce in India lagged behind competing products in its category. After a few weeks of teasing, the firm has now unveiled the OnePlus Nord Watch, its second smartwatch and first wearable under the Nord label, 1.5 years after the release of the first Watch.
The wearable has a rectangular 1.78-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. The IP68-certified chassis, according to OnePlus, is weatherproof and waterproof. The straps are composed of breathable fabrics and are a carryover from the OnePlus Watch.
The watch has a 3-axis accelerometer, heart-rate monitor, and SpO2 sensor for tracking health. The wearable uses the data it collects to track your sleep cycle and display your stress levels in addition to the standard metrics like steps taken and calories burned. Additionally, it can keep track of over 105 physical activities, such as cricket and yoga. Runs and walks are automatically detected as workouts, but for other workouts, you must first turn on the monitoring.
The N Health companion app allows you to pair the Nord Watch with your phone via Bluetooth 5.2. Using the app, you may access all the data gathered and manage your health more effectively. Additionally, it enables you to choose which notifications you want to get on your wearable.
Thanks to a 230mAh battery inside, OnePlus claims the Nord Watch can run for 10 days on a single charge or up to 30 days in standby. The watch uses RTOS instead of Wear OS, which contributes to its remarkable battery life. So, while you have access to plenty of watch faces, there are no third-party apps to install and play around with. Although OnePlus claims there are more than 100 watch faces available, you can only view five of them at any given moment directly from the wearable. You must utilise the companion app on your smartphone for the remaining tasks.
There are two colour options for the OnePlus Nord Watch: Midnight Black and Deep Blue. Both Android 6.0+ smartphones and iPhones running iOS 11 or later are compatible with it. In contrast to its first wristwatch, which was sold in the US, OnePlus is only releasing the Nord Watch in India, where it costs Rs 5,000 ($68). It is unlikely that the Nord Watch will become more widely available outside of the nation given how poorly the OnePlus Watch was accepted.
