Panda Bear will release new album ‘Sinister Grift’ on February 28th.
The songwriter – real name Noah Lennox – is on quite a creative run right now, combining his role in Animal Collective with solo material, collaborative work alongside Sonic Boom, and guest features with the likes of Dean Blunt.
New album ‘Sinister Grift’ finds the Lisbon-based musician returning to his Panda Bear moniker, but this time round there’s a twist – it’s a highly collaborative affair.
Working from his Lisbon studio alongside AnCo bandmate Josh “Deakin” Dibb, the two are joined by Cindy Lee, Spirit of the Beehive’s Rivka Ravede, and—for the first time on a Panda Bear solo album—each of his Animal Collective bandmates.
Deakin comments…
“Working on this record felt like a sacred and warm return. Noah and I first started putting music down to multitrack cassette in 1991. 32 years later and working in the same fashion, two friends alone in a room searching for sounds and feelings that move us, I am very proud of what we created together.Sinister Griftfeels like the songwriter I’ve known for over 30 years but also feels like some sort of new chapter for Noah. Couldn’t be more proud of the result.”
New song ‘Defense’ is out now, a piece of pop-edged aural dreaming which features the beatific input of Cindy Lee.
Tune in now.
