Renowned gospel music minister, Pastor Joseph Adebayo Adelakun, popularly known as Baba Ayewa, is preparing to retire from his ministerial duties in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), with an official retirement program scheduled for Saturday, October 19th. The Veteran gospel music minister with over 50 albums, who has spent decades serving both God and his community, clarified that his retirement only applies to the administrative side of church leadership, not his passion for music.

In an exclusive interview with City People, Baba Ayewa shared that his retirement is part of the church’s tradition, as ministers typically step down at 75.

Now 75 years old, Baba Ayewa still maintains a strict and disciplined lifestyle of prayers and fasting, also committed to living a simple life in expectant of Christ’s return, stating that, even in old age, the devil often tries to challenge the work of God, and he has to remain vigilant against such attacks.

As he approaches retirement from church administration, Baba Ayewa expresses his gratitude for a life sustained by divine grace. Despite his humble beginnings, he attributes his success to God’s mercy, noting how friends and well-wishers have consistently supported and blessed him throughout his life, allowing him to carry out his work without seeking material wealth.

The official retirement program features a week-long revival and concludes with a celebration on Saturday, October 19th, with distinguished guests, including Baba Kalejaye and Baba Tejuosho, taking part in the event. True to his character, Baba Ayewa has organized outreach activities, including visits to the less privileged and prisoners, as part of the program.
